Sunday Evening

Hi all,
Been a pretty unexciting weekend, we have not been doing to much, tidying up, taking turns taking care of Elizabeth. I took her shopping with me this morning to give Roanna a few hours alone to catch up on sleep. Roanna made a bottle for her so he got some of that, the Grandparents stopped by later in the afternoon for a quick visit.
Yesterday we had a supprise, a family that lives in the same block had brought Elizabeth a gift, a really plush blanket and a rattle in a stuffed rabbit. It was quite a supprise, we have passed each other and exhanged hello's, they have two kids a boy and a girl, if I see them usually from the balcony when I am at the BBQ, we I say hello to the kids and such. Honestly we don't even know their names!!! but they got us a gift, I was walking with Elizabeth to calm her down and went outside, they family were playing in the tennis court, and the girls came over to give us the gift. Again it was VERY unexpected, and nice.

Roanna had a visit from her old next door neighbour and friend, Marla, her family lives in Pincer Creek, about two hours south of Calgary. Roanna hasn't seen them since our wedding, though we they exchanged cards throughout the year. I was at work so I didn't get to see her.

Speaking of work back tomorrow, wrapping furniture for shipping, I'll try no to damage any this day.... I don't know, give me new furniture and a tape gun with serrated edges and you are just asking for trouble... (those who KNOW me are probably shaking their heads right now).

I told Roanna, it was the first place I have worked at where they *buzz* you to work, to break, back to work, and home.... Kinda feels like school again. It was funny, people will drop what they are doing, machines will turn off and EVERYONE heads to the break room in a mad rush.

Anyhoo, guess it is time to do a last minute tidy, and head off to bed, I already made my lunch for tomorrow, dinner is already made as well for the night. I made pot of spagetti sauce, so possible Tuesday we will make a couple of pans of spinach canaloni. I was cleaning out the cupboard two weeks ago and found no less than 8 bags or boxes of pasta. So this week I have been going through the pasta. At least I'm not in Bermuda, at least 2/3 rds of the pasta woulda been full of wevals by now.

Night all,

Ian, Roanna & Elizabeth.

Happy Birthday

Well here is the happy girl at one month old yesterday, though there was no cake or icecream (for her at least). She seems to be settling down a bit at night, though is feeding like crazy. Believe it or not we had a dusting of snow last night (but I guess if you live here you would probably be wondering why it took so long to snow.) So far I haven't even been able to try my new bamboo shades on the balcony, it seems like it is going to be low temperatures for the next few days......

Asside from that, I start my new job tomorrow, I am working at a furniture place, final inspections and assembly and shipping. The pay is not bad, plus I get a raise in 3 months and full benefits then to. It is only about 20 mins away, and it is Mon to Friday, 7 to 3:30, so I can keep off of the Deerfoot during rush hour. Hopefully it works out...

Aside from that, Roanna and Elizabeth are doing well, she gets a visit from a long time friend on Friday, I don't think we have seen them since the wedding, though christmas cards have crossed in the mail.

Well better be going, I'm gonna change that picture in the previous blog, the one where Elizibeth and her Grandma, it was a bit two big..

Everyone have a great weekend,

Ian, Roanna & Elizabeth.

Tuesday Evening

Hi all,
well things are going pretty well right now. Yesterday, Elizabeth came with me to her first Mall, she pretty much had a pretty quite time in the carrier. Though next time I take her I have to take the stroller, man my back was killing me this morning. I had to take her out at Starbucks, while I was drinking my coffee she got a bit fussy, and spat up a bit. After she was cleaned up I put her back in and we went to the grocery store to pick up some fixin's.
Roanna's parents came by for a visit later in the afternoon, we were over there on Saturday, and Granddad didn't get any time with Elizabeth, so they came over for a bit.
Today, we went to Roanna's job, to visit everyone, I took some pics, but I will post them tomorrow, I haven't bothered to download the camera. Eveyone was happy to see Roanna and Elizabeth, lots of hugging, and passing Elizabeth around and holding, etc, etc.

I guess I forgot to tell everyone I got the computer back from the shop, luckily they were able to fix it quickly and cheaply. 40 bucks it cost us, though it was quoted at about $120.

Funny story though, I called up the GEEK SQUAD, they are at best buy, last wednesday, tell them my name and asked them if my computer was ready (it had been two weeks). The guy comes back to the phone and tells me "the hard drive is fried, and I will have to wait to see if they can rescue any data off of it."
So I am like "OKAY!"
I go into the kitchen and pretty much am fuming for a minute cause ALL of my pictures, over 3 years worth, are on the harddrive.... then a bit of a peace comes over me, and I figure, well it ain't that bad, can't do anything about it now.
I tell Roanna the news, figure we will wait until we get called back, since there was a possibility that they will be able to do something.
Then a few minutes later, the tech calls back, and asks me, "which Foggo am I?" I tell him "Ian", he says, "oh, your Ian you have the desktop" apparently another Foggo had dropped off a laptop, and THIS was the computer that had the harddrive problem. Mine was fixed and I could pick it up anytime.
I thought it pretty strange that two Foggo's in Calgary would have computer problems in Calgary and pick the same store to use it for repairs.

We are still waiting for some good weather, I got the bamboo shades and put them up, and wouldn't you know it for the Sunday and Monday, we had rain, rain, hail and some snow in a few areas of Calgary. All I wanted to do on the holiday, was grill some hot dogs and sit out on the porch, sipping some lemonade. We had the hotdogs we had today, they were good.

Well talk to everyone later.

Roanna needs me to take Elizabeth for a bit,

Take care all,

Friday Night

Hi all,

Been a busy week, I did some temp work at Roanna's old job, while the shipping guy was away on a course. Hopefully everything got to where it was supposed to go (ha....ha).

Of course while doing this, Roanna was home with Elizabeth for the days, and she did very well. The nights have been about the same, though it seems that Elizabeth gets (fussy, colicy, gassy...whatever) a bit earlier each night. Though the longest stretch of sleep seems to be about 2 1/2 hours, before she has to be fed.

Last weekend there was a lot of driving around the neighbourhood, to get her to calm down (and to give Roanna a much needed break for even a half hour).

Today I finished work at lunch, did some shopping at IKEA for a few supplies, then came home and took Elizabeth out with me to a few stores to let Roanna rest for a bit. Everyone is doing well, and we plan to have a nice relaxing long weekend. All I want to do is sit out on the balcony, and grill up some hotdogs & smokies, and just sit out and chill for a bit.

Monday Curtis & Debs came around for a visit, I took this photo, and it just cracks me up, this is Debs & Elizabeth's first meeting, I think Elizabeth is a bit .....shocked....supprised....not to sure......

Here are two photos, Madaline holding Roanna at 3 days old, & Madaline holding her granddaughter at 3 days old.

I gotta get some of my old baby pics brought up or scanned in. I wanna compair my old baby pics to Elizabeth.

So everyone is doing fine, we are looking forward to a nice quiet weekend, we go to the Grandparents tomorrow. Saturday we have a visit from Trish & her son Josh, Roanna is the Bridesmaid in July, so some dress shopping will be in order in a few more weeks. Monday is sit on the balcony and much hot dogs. It is supposed to cool down by then, not like the great week of warm weater Monday to Thursday, as soon as it is the long weekend (lotsa people going out camping this weekend) it cools off..... gotta love Canadian weather!!!!

Tomorrow I gotta go slip over to Rona to pick up some eye hooks, I want to hang to bambo blinds on the balcony (they were 50% off at IKEA), so we can lower them to give us some shade mid afternoon, hopefully it will keep the apt a bit cooler as well in the summer.

I'll try to remember to take a few pics of the project.... and of Elizabeth, kinda left the camera on the charger since Monday night.

It is hard to believe it has been 1 month on Monday!! Time sure flies. Anyhoo, by Tuesday I should have more pics to post, gotta take some on her 1 month B'day.

Take care everyone, enjoy the holidays next week.

Busy Saturday

Hi all,
Well an early morning, Roanna was up with Elizabeth for breakfast, so I got up made some tea, and made Roanna some breakfast. Then it was off to Costco for some shopping for a Mother's Day Brunch at the parents house tomorrow.
Menu so far is Eggs Benedict with Canadian pea meal bacon, and some Olive oil and rosemary potato wedges on the side, and a few pieces of fruit & a nice glass of pink champaigne.
Been a while since I have made hollindise sauce, but shouldn't be a problem.
Then it was off to the University of Calgary, to pick up my Aunt Tina for a visit, she has been in Calgary for a few days and was free today. While she was here, Roanna's Aunt dropped by with her son and daughter for a visit (we were caught by supprise, we knew Jo-Jo was coming by, but didn't know her mom was in town. So everyone was here for a visit at the same time.!!!
Roanna opened up a couple of gifts from her Aunt and cousins, then they left, Jo-Jo was not feeling to well so she kept her distance. (If you guys are reading this, sorry I forgot to take out the camera for a couple of pics.....my bad)
Then we headed back to the U of C to drop off Tina, she had a couple of workshops she wanted to do. Came home did a bit of shoppping on the way home.
Oh and Chris, Tina will be home on Tuesday.
Hopefully the rest of the night will be a bit more restful, last night was a "bit stressfull" for all, but we were able to figure out what the problem was after two hours. Well not figure out as much, after being on hold for 5 mins on the help line to a registered nurse, the nurse answered, I handed the phone to Roanna, she handed me a crying Elizabeth, there was a loud *burp* then she immediately went to sleep....... I guess we shoulda called sooner....

Tina, Elizabeth & Roanna
All of us.....
Have a great Mother's Day everyone,
Ian, Roanna & Elizabeth

Tuesday Night

Well there ended up being a bit of excitment, since one of the buildings fire alarms went off, people didn't show up to look until the fire trucks showed up.
Unfortunately I had the luck of running into two of our buildings neighbours in various states of undress.....and our building wasn't on fire!!!

Grandma came by today for a quick lunch and a visit, so she got snagged into "temporary bed" duty. Apparently she was pretty effective since Maxine curled up on the couch as well!!

Sorry not a great picture, of Elizabeth, but this onesy is a gift from one of Roanna's friends, more than likey it's gonna be the last time she wears it. Along with a few other onesies, they are getting small, it is quite hard to believe!!!

Tuesday Morning

Hi all,
Well the nights are getting better, we had NO DISTRACTIONS yesterday, no visits no going out, and it seems that that might have worked. Last night we didn't get the fussyness that we had the previous three nights, so maybe Elizabeth was over stimulated by all the things going on around her.
Last night she sleep for over three hours, Roanna woke her up and fed her, and put her back to sleep, she did about another 2 and a bit hours.
No new pics today, same old stuff right now. We have reintroduced her to a flat matress now, and she seems to have taken to it again, we had her sleeping slightly at an angle.
Asside from that, everything is going pretty well right now, Grandma is coming for a quick visit around lunch time, so I have to get into gear and make some sandwiches a bit later.

Talk to everyone later,

Ian, Roanna & Elizabeth

Saturday Morning

Hi all,

Man, that kid can eat, she is up about every two hours to have a bite. I just fed her using the bottle about 45 mins ago, so Roanna could lay in for an extra hour.

Same old stuff going on, yesterday I was down at a Headhunters place, I saw an entry level safety officer job, and applied for it, hopefully I should get a call Monday. I had to do a comprehension test and a math skill test, and an accuracy test. I coulda just told them "I don't speak english good".

I have also put out a few more resumes, though nothing back yet, I'll keep my fingers crossed. On the upside, I keep getting asked when am I coming back to COSTCO everytime I shop down there..... (if you can call that an upside).

Roanna has gotten the hang of "Mommying" faster than I have gotten the hang of "Daddying" though I think it is a bit unfair with what all with the breastfeeding.

Right now we are trying to get a steam cleaner, our hallway smells a bit of Maxine's pee, she did it a couple of times the last full moon, but since we had just come back with Elizabeth, that might have something to do with it. I thought up till the first peeing incident this week, Maxine had taken very well to Elizabeth.

There was a funny incident in the first week where I was feeding Elizabeth, and Maxine had jumped up on the couch and curled up looking towards us. Then I had to burp Elizabeth, she was sitting up in my lap leaned forward with my hand cupping her jaw. She gets this bug eyed look in her face as you pat her back. Maxine kinda sits up and goes wide eyed, and the two seem to be just looking at each other. I can see Maxine thinking "what the hell is he doing to her????" the same time Elizabeth is thinking "what the hell is he doing to me???"

Funny enough though, Maxine can only take so much of Elizabeth crying before she wanders off to another room, which I find highly amusing. Abandoning the post and all that I guess.

Anywho here a couple of more new pics for everyone to look at.

This was her going home onesy

This is her little birth mark on her right leg

Take care all, have a great weekend

Friday Afternoon

Hi all,
We are back from the clinic and Elizabeth has gained more weight, she is now a tad over 9 lbs which is very good. So we had another outing for about an hour. Roanna was able to get more advice and some questions she had answered.
Today it has been raining most of the day, and it is a bit nippy right now, I am going to return the electric pump we rented last wednesday since Roanna does not need it. I also have to pick up a rain check for a free pampers wipes box, so we can give that to Grandma, we already have one, and since free is free...... might as well get it.
Tomorrow we are having the Grandparents over for a quick bit of lunch, I made some burgers and the Grandparents are bringing a salad.
Roanna is doing well, now I think her biggest concern is trying not to get "hit" while changing diapers......
No new pictures yet, I haven't even taken the camera off the charger for over a day, hopefully it is sunny tommorrow, I'll snap some more.

Take care everyone, and have a happy CINCO de MAYO. I kinda forgot, but I can offer some salsa for the hambergers.....

Thursday Night

Hi all,
Well we had lots of rain most of the day, except for when it snowed!!!
At least Elizabeth was home before we got the snow. Today everyone went to visit the Grandparents, and also to throw a load of baby clothes into the wash. Couple of fussy times with Elilzabeth, she seems to want to feed more and more, after reading the books, it is apparently supposed to taper off. She has been nursing longer and longer now, though at the Grandparents we ended up having to use "THE EMERGENCY BOTTLE", everyone figured Elizabeth was a bit unfamiliar with the surroundings...
I (Ian) ran off to Walmart after dropping off the girls and eveyone tucked into bed, and picked up some needed baby stuff, and a few things for Roanna. That's when we had the snow....
Tomorrow I am off to a job hunter to fill out some forms, hopefully I will be able to catch the trains, they may be going on strike tomorrow morning, so the services will probalby be running a little differently. I figure it will be useless to drive down, since workers will probalby take their cars if the trains are on strike. So parking will be a problem (not to mention expensive).
Then we are off to the clinic we went to on Monday, we can use the scale between 130 and 330, just to ensure that Elizabeth is getting enough. Though from the amount of diapers we are going through .....SHE'S GETTING ENOUGH.

Everyone take care,

Ian, Roanna & Elizabeth

Wednesday Night

Hi all,

Well last night was a bit of a trial, with Elizabeth up and eating about every hour it seems, we think that she has taken to breastfeeding now, and seems to be taking more and more with each feeding. Unfortunately with this now, we are trying to not use a bottle for feeding, which just puts all the responsibility on Roanna. At least when we were bottle feeding I could take a shift, and Roanna could sleep an extra hour and a bit.

We changed the bed a bit, now we have a rolled up cover, placed so it sorta leans forward and lifts her head up a bit. We warm it up a bit with a hair dryer right now (getting a heating pad soon) so it is not to cold when she goes down for some sleep. She seems to not be upset so much now when we put her down, I guess getting plopped on to a cold matress sorta wakes one up.

Anyhoo, guess it is time to head out, here is a cute photo from yesterday.
