POOFY KITTY

Well yesterday was a fairly warm day, so we had the house open and the balcony door open. Both cats were outside enjoying the sun. Well apparently a couple of bottles in the balcony storage shed shifted, and fell making a bit of a racket. Which was the followed by two cats frightend out of thier minds trying to get through the balcony door at the same time.

Well both cats were pretty poofy, here is a picture of Jenny hiding under the table, she was actually poofier when she first came through.

Also MAY be good news later this week........

A Sunny Thursday

Well yesterday and yesterday night was pretty painfull, both Roanna & I had eaten something that did not agree with us, I had made a soup, so maybe it was one of the ingrediants.
Roanna spent the day at home, and I went across the street to get ginger ale and more stomache medicine. I don't think it was food poisioning, just something that gave us really really bad intergestion, both of us are feeling a better now, Roanna is back at work.

Not much else to say, same ol' same ol', we are still having a very warm week, with most of the weekends snow melting. Such a great winter it has been.

Hope everyone is OK, hi to the family.

Now On With The Show

New goverment in, unfortunately, the Conservatives (the new party) did not get the Majority, they almost had it (according to polls) but I guess the Liberals's (the ousted party) last week of campaign adds scared the crap out of voters.
What does this mean for me????
Proabably another 6 month delay for my immigration paperwork while they "reshuffle" government department workers...... That's probably the good news.

Well that has been two government changes in 10 years, once in Bermuda and now once in Canada. Let's hope Canada does better than the Bermudian Government change....

On another Canada front, last month I got a check back from Air Canada for the refund on my ticket (the part I did not use) it was about 1/3 less than they quoted me. So I called them and asked why did they do this, I had been quoted a set amount for a refund, and they had taken a 1/3 away, over a 100 US dollars. This was quite alot of money for a service fee. I was told that there were no fees involved, and to fax the information to the lady dealing with me.
Well this morning I got a call, they are still looking into this, they did not get my fax the other week, could I mail it in, and include the check (from a Bermuda bank) which was rejected by Roanna's bank and sent back to me......

Apparently I am doomed to have any progress done with anything that has the word Canada attached to it.

Let's see what other bad news. We found out (or at least Roanna and her Mom found out) that our pattern for our Wedding China has been discontinued. We opted for Denby, the Reflex pattern, got a few things and had Roanna's Mom pick up a few pieces over the past few years. Not much, since we were ploping down over $30 bucks a plate. Now we find out that Denby, discontinues patterns after 5 to 7 years.

On the brighter side I think it is good luck when your marriage lasts longer than you Wedding pattern.

So have a great day everyone!!

*edid* Oh well came back to add something on a lighter note. In the links there is a website link called Overheard In New York, this site has a couple of years of conversations that were overheard in New York. SOME CONVERSATIONS MY OFFEND please be warned. I find the site hilarious!!!

Election Monday

Well Canada is voting, with some polls in and the election going the way that people have expected over the last few weeks.
Roanna voted last week, so she doesn't have to face any line ups or crowds today.
I was talking to Roanna, the if the Conservative party gets in, one of the promises was and imediate 1 % reduction off of the GST. which is pretty fine, then it is supposed to be another 1% reduction in a few more years. For Calgary, it isn't that much anyway, or I should say Alberta, since all the provice pays is the GST anyway (7% to be reduced to 6%), other provences pay another 8% PST, years ago some smart cookie in politics decided to payoff the Provincial debt, this makes things a little cheaper when you buy something compared to other provincies.

This week has been pretty quiet, especially since I open up todays blog by talking about politics.....
Saturday we went to Roanna's brothers house and played some texas holdem poker. 10 buck buy in, a couple of hours of play, this week Roanna did better that me, I was second out on my table...... which kinda sucked but what could you do. Started a side game later, with a 5 buck buy in, and was first out on that game.....
Thus ended the career of Ian the poker player I think......

Aside from that, we had some snow on Friday, a few centimeters, but right now the sun is out and blazin' away. This has been a very warm winter so far....

No news yet on the immigration paperwork, but looking at it from a opptimistick viewpoint, I am still in Cananda....

Everyone take care

Thump update

Okay all the noise is the upstairs neighbours moving out.
So that makes up for all the noise...

For two cats that don't like each other, they get pretty close sometimes..... Posted by Picasa

THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP

Not to sure why, or who it is.
Our upstairs neighbour, occasionally gets really loud walking around in his/her apt.
The strange part is that this unknown thumper, is pretty inconsistant, so we figure they work week long shifts away from home.
Then come back and thump some more.

Not to much to bother me, since I have no reason to get up in the a.m.

We do wonder though, what do the downstairs neighbours hear. Cause I know I don't walk lightly.

Cookin' up a Storm

Well back to a quick blog, just got out of the kitchen where I made
Curried Chicken Salad with raisins
Tuna salad with celery and lemon
Simering a beefbroth with red wind some extra veggies and a cut of beef bone
Chopped onions and put in oven for combining with the above in about 2 1/2 hours.
Took out the trash from all the bits from above (and the cat poop), and see that it is snowing (just a little bit).
Just brewing up some mexican decafe coffee (it was brought by our neighbour last year when we house sat for her). I know, I know....it's decafe, but right now it's all I have in the freezer.
Gonna toast up a bagel and have that for breakfast.

Oh I meant to mention, yesterday, I finally decided to put holes in the walls, and hang our pictures, now we have a bit more room, since we were placing pics, and stuff against the walls or shelves.
It is amazing what a few pictures on the wall do to the place, we put stuff up by eyeballing it, so not everything is perfectly alligned, like I told Roanna, we will pull out the laser level for when we get a house. The second bedroom (computer room) has my fire stuff up and my Bone poster (signed limited edition thank you very much!). The rest of the rooms have our paintings of Calgary, and our Bermuda acid photo, and our old WEEBL licence plate.
We even were able to empty two shelves where the paintings were stored.

Anywoo, this will probably be the last post for today, so everyone enjoy the last of your weekend.

Sunday Update

Well, it's been a few days, I am wide awake Sunday morning, so at this point in time I am boiling some chicken. Today we were supposed to have Anne over (our cat's previous owner and our ex-landlord), unfortunately she left a message last night saying she couldn't make it, since she is recovering from the flu. So I am up, and I figure I might as well cook the chicken, and make it anyway, then we will have lunch ready for us later.

So Today is the 15th January, my last day that I am supposed to be in this country, I called the immigration on Wednesday, since I had a letter from them saying they had not recieved my info yet. After a discussion with someone over the phone I have found out the following information:

* my registered letter MAY be in a pile in Vegraville
* As of the 11th January, Vegraville Case Processing Center, is currently opening mail that they have received on December 1st (mine was MAILED on the 12th December)
* when you change an address over the phone, it does not happen
* being advised to call in another two weeks to see if they have recieved my letter, my call may end up being long distance

And Triangle you may say I told you so.

Again though, my "year" comes up Feb 12th I think, where it "officially" has been a year since I sent in the paperwork to be processed. Maybe I will still be here or maybe I will have been shipped home in a box by the Canadian Immigration Dept.

My last word on this is....

My Dad and Step Mom threw Roanna and I a goodbye party with friends and family before we left. I found it strange that everyone would shake my hand and say "have a great trip" Eventually I found it funny, and pointed out that I was "leaving for good", these people would laugh or shake their head and smile at me/us.
Now I don't find it all that strange.

On a funny note, now last weekend we watched Snatch, one of those Guy Ritchie funny/violent movies. Now I find my self walking around Calgary muttering in a fake Gypsy accent (the one like Brad Pitt had), and I don't know why.......

Keep it safe all

A Non-Update

Well as usual
nothing much has been happening up here. It looks like the weather may have turned a bit so it is getting colder. No snow yet, and we are heading into the worst three months for winter.
Mostly doing housekeeping stuff, taking down trees, putting up pictures and things like that.
This weekend I think I will take down the final Christmas stuff, the outside hanging lights, might do it a bit earlier, blue and gold lights, I guess I could claim that I am supporting St. Davids....
Any hoo, for my Mom Roanna got her christmas package, they slipped it under the door yesterday, it is a cute frog.

Take care everyone

Hi Again All

Sorry about no updating...
As usual it has been a quiet week, keeping my head low and indoors.
Been sitting down reading the newspapers, shaking my head, and wondering maybe I should have waited before coming up here.
The loving headlines today, housing for a single family home now up at $300,000 which is getting up there now. So by the time we are ready to get a home, I'm sure the ol' prices will be up another 10%.
Grrrrrrr.
Let's see other than me, Roanna is enjoying learning her new job she will be doing, since she basically gets her boss's job, while she is on maternity leave. Learning new stuff is pretty fun since it takes the monotony out of jobs.....
Other than that, this weekend is pretty free, so hopefully I remember to take our camera with us, maybe bore everyone with weekend shots.

Take care.

First Post For 2006

Hi all,

sorry I haven't posted for for 2006 yet, but as usually nothing terribly exciting to post so far. We brought in the New Year at home, well we went out to Roanna's brothers house and played some poker, and came home for 1130.
We ended up watching a replay from Toronto with the New Year countdown "live" in the top right corner. Quite a few years back I was staying in Toronto for new years and had a great time.
We popped the champaigne and had a toast. Sat down and flicked between the two Muchmusic channels who were doing a top countdown on one channel, and retro-music videos on another. I am talking retro, stuff from the early seventies, up to the late nineties. Even some Bob Marley, we went to bed about twoish.
New Years Day was pretty quiet, we went over to visit the neighbours then invited them over to intoduce the kitties to them, (they have a cat). We ended up with a quick invite for dinner, fired up the BBQ and grilled some hot dogs and hamburgers and oven baked french fries. In the end a 5 minute visit turned out to be a 4 hour chat and dinner.
Yesterday we picked up Roanna's Mom and walked around the Zoo for 90 minutes, it was quite cold all morning, some of the animals were waking up, and it was not so busy when we got there, though it was filling up with families when we left.
Then a quick stop off at Kinjo's for some sushi lunch, drop of Mom at her house and back to home to watch the flames win in the last period of hockey.
take care all
and happy new year
